The challenge
Each bilingual financing contract took associates several working days to review by hand, at high cost, with the risk of missing a compounding charge or a defective transfer of ownership.
Objectives
- Arabic and English contracts
- Two-layer rule check
- Clear verdicts
- Suggested fixes
Discovery
We built this contract screener for a legal and advisory consultancy in Saudi Arabia. It reads Arabic and English financing agreements — Murabaha, Ijarah, Sukuk and more — splits them into clauses, checks each one against AAOIFI Shariah standards and SAMA banking rules, explains any conflict between the two, and suggests compliant wording, with an encrypted, tamper-evident report at the end.
What was built
- Arabic and English contracts. PDF, Word and text agreements read in either language and split into individual clauses.
- Two-layer rule check. Every clause checked against AAOIFI standards and SAMA rules, with conflicts between them explained.
- Clear verdicts. Each clause marked compliant, needs review or non-compliant, with severity and a confidence score.
- Suggested fixes. Compliant replacement wording for problem clauses, such as capping late-payment charges.
- Instrument-specific checks. Murabaha, Tawarruq, Ijarah, Sukuk, Mudaraba, Musharaka and Istisna'a each reviewed for their own risks.
- Encrypted reports. Bilingual PDF reports with a tamper-evident audit trail, encrypted before they leave the browser.
